東方大学は第二次世界大戦が終わってから間もない1976年にフィリピンがアメリカからの独立を果たしたときに設立されました。それから当大学は急速に発展をし、東南アジアの中でも規模の大きい、影響力を大きく持った知名度の高い大学となりました。東方大学は２つのキャンパスを持っていて、マニラキャンパスとカローカンキャンパスがあります。その中でマニラキャンパスがメインのキャンパスとなります。


東方大学は半世紀の時間を経て、質の高い教育方針を打ち出していくことに尽力してきました。その結果東方大学は各種検定試験の合格率で非常に良い成績を毎年収めていくようになりました。今は東方大学は大学の発展に尽力していく中でフィリピンの最も優秀な私立大学の中の一校と呼ばれるほどになりました。過去数十年の中で東方大学は多くのCPA(米国公認会計士)の合格者を輩出しました。また医歯学系や工学系の国家試験でも非常に多くの学生を輩出しており合格者は優秀な成績を収めています。東方大学はフィリピンの大学のランキングでも約５位となっており、上質な教育環境と抜群の知名度を誇っています。
